June 2011 - Enter Summer!

Thank you to all who attended our Fifth Tuesday class in May entitled Holistic Weight Management. It was intentionally not the expected presentation that would give yet another ‘magic bullet’ diet and exercise plan. In fact, we did not have much new to say regarding food choices for health than what we usually say at every class and client encounter.

There is little difference in eating for health and eating for weight loss from a nutritional standpoint, the difference boils down to how much. That may sound simple, just eat less, right?

But as we focused on in this class, eating less or not over-eating is quite complicated. It involves stress, adrenals, cortisol and other hormones which all contribute to “toxic weight”; it involves one’s relationship with food and self and one's emotional association with eating. Thus not over-eating isn’t just about will power, but a reaching a deeper consciousness and awareness for permanent change to take place. “Become thin from within” is the only permanent weight management strategy.

Some clients have expressed a desire to form a weight management accountability/support group, so please let Carla know if you are interested. This group could possibly meet on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month before the scheduled Question/Answer class and could go for 10 weeks. What do you think?

So what is happening the rest of June at EC? As always, we have class every Tuesday evening at 6pm in our Classroom (listed below). The first Tuesday class (June 7) fee is $10 per person and remaining classes are $5. Please see our website for descriptions of classes.

June 7 –
The Truth About Blood Pressure
June 14 – Q&A: mini topic-
Serotonin
June 21 – Basic Why & How:
Gelatin
June 28 – Q&A: mini topic – Pregnenolone

P.S. (in case anyone is wondering..) The on-line survey promised in last month's newsletter obviously did not happen, so it will hopefully be ready to send out this month
!
